If you are an amateur painter and want to learn oil painting to fulfill your dreams to be a good painter, then I have short listed few basic tips for you.

1. Brushes- You can purchase brush with strong hair so that it does not lose hair. Some times brushes leave hair paintings. Broken hair sticks to painting because of adhesive property of oil paints. You can clean brush with turpentine or any other oil. Besides oil you can use special liquids available in the markets.
2. Oil paints- Oil paint tubes are easily available in the market. You can choose colors in accordance with your future paintings. If you are not interested in using oil colors, you can use water colors as well. As far as brands are concerned, you can choose a good brand.
3. Mediums- Medium refers to the oil which is used to make oil paints thin. Oil paints come in tubes and generally are quite thick. You can use it directly, but using oil to make it thin is highly recommended.
4. Perfect Room- You should have a perfect room for you which has proper ventilation in it. Oil paintings look best when they dry out.
5. Protection- You should take care of you as oil colors are sometimes very dangerous. The chemicals used in oil colors can be dangerous for you. You should keep it far from you so that you can’t inhale their smell.
