Twice rise in sales of Apple’s most popular iPhone and iPad have resulted in its enormous recent profits above any anticipation. Options For Your 401k When Leaving Your Current Place Of Employment

Monday, July 18th, 2011

If you are planning to leave your current place of work and have a 401 (k) plan with your current company, you may be wondering what to do with your account. Well, you have three basic options, these are to cash out the plan, let the money remain in the current company’s plan or move the money to another account that has interest gains that are tax free. If you choose to move your 401 (k) savings from one account to another, you would have basically carried out a process that is a rollover.

Cash Out Your Plan

As stated above, when leaving your current employer, you could choose to cash out the money or withdraw the money in cash from the plan. However, doing this may not be the best thing for you, and so you need to be knowledgeable of the effects that it will have on your savings. For one, this early withdrawal will result in you being charged an early withdrawal fee which is 10% of the amount you’re withdrawing. Also the amount you’re withdrawing will be taxed. This can put a big dent in your savings and therefore you should seriously consider this option before doing so.

Rollover To Your New Employer

If you have a case where your new employer also has a 401 k plan you could consider having the funds rolled over to this new plan. However, this should not be your first decision. Before doing this, do some research to see the limitations and the fees that are attached to this plan. Once you are knowledgeable of this, make a decision as to whether or not, having the funds rolled over to this new plan is right for you. If the new plan does not offer low fees, there are other options which you can consider.

Rollover to IRA

If none of the former options are right for you, you can roll over your 401k to an investment retirement account or IRA. It is highly likely that you will find an IRA having lower fees and you will also be given a great deal of control as it relates to where you funds are invested for retirement.

Why the US Needs Certified Nursing Assistants

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

I had my friend, Angie, over for a glass of wine last night. Angie is a nurse (a very good one too, I’d imagine, as she is a very loving, caring person with a hilarious sense of humour). We got talking about nursing and the Certified Nursing Assistant Training courses that are offered these days. My husband, Ray, thinks that anyone should be able to become a nursing assistant, whereas Angie thinks it’s really important to complete the training course in order to become a qualified nursing assistant.

Once you complete the cna training and pass the tests for CNA certification, you can work alongside medically trained staff to care for patients. While you usually work under the direction of nursing staff to undertake duties like dressing, feeding and bathing, you also need basic medical skills. And what if something happens to a patient while a nurse isn’t in the room? Angie made the point that it’s important that nursing assistants are trained so that they know what to do in these situations and they don’t panic. (I remember the feeling of starting a new job and being completely terrified because I didn’t know what to do. I was just making coffee, so I can’t imagine how this would feel when patients’ lives are in your hands!) The CNA training provides you with medical skills like knowledge of CPR, recording blood pressure and other important procedures.

Angie said that employers at the hospital where she works are more likely to employ members of staff who have had CNA training and have cna certification. That way, they don’t have to train the staff when they start work. Employers also need to know that their staff can provide care to the patients and be able to supplement the medical staff. If the basic provision of care to be carried out by trained and certified nursing assistants, it allows nursing and medical staff more freedom to provide for patients’ other needs requiring a higher level of medical training. When someone already CNA certified begins working with patients, they have a higher level of skill, can recognise problems in patients and are better equipped to take appropriate action, meaning the whole medical team can provide higher quality service to their patients.

Angie certainly changed Ray’s mind, and I am keener than ever to complete the CNA training and CNA certification!
